Funding Request for PhD in School and Child Clinical Psychology

I am seeking funding to support my PhD studies in School and Child Clinical Psychology, with a focus on addressing the critical underrepresentation of Black men in this essential field. Currently, Black men represent less than 1% of licensed clinical psychologists in Canada and the U.S., which limits access to culturally relevant mental health care for children and families in our communities.

Your support will enable me to pursue advanced training and research aimed at:

• Enhancing Awareness: Identifying and addressing mental health issues affecting children in Black communities, and advocating for their unique needs.
• Developing Culturally Competent Practices: Creating therapeutic training approaches tailored to the diverse backgrounds of children and families, ensuring effective support and intervention.
• Inspiring Future Generations: Encouraging more Black men to enter the field of psychology, thereby enriching the profession and improving mental health outcomes for children.

Investing in my education is an investment in a more inclusive and effective mental health system for our youth. Together, we can work towards a future where every child has access to the care and support they deserve.
